Dawn Speers receives the UK Women In Meat Industry Award

Kudos to ABP's Dawn Speers for her achievement in securing the Meat Businesswoman Award in the Manufacturing/Processing category at the 2019 Meat Management Awards, celebrated on the 15th of November in London. Serving as the Technical Manager at ABP's Newry location, Dawn oversees critical areas such as animal welfare, food safety, quality assurance, and compliance with legal standards throughout the Newry facility. The Women In Meat Industry Awards aim to highlight and honor the crucial roles women play in the meat industry, and this accolade is part of a significant initiative across the UK to acknowledge exceptional women in the sector. Dawn's roots are deeply embedded in agriculture, and she is academically equipped with a degree in Food Technology and a Master's in Business Management. Her contributions at ABP have been pivotal, notably in establishing a unique undergraduate bursary and internship program in Northern Ireland. This initiative offers financial aid and practical work experience to students from Queen’s University and CARE’s Loughry Campus, aligning with ABP's commitment to fostering diversity and encouraging more women to explore careers in the meat industry through educational initiatives. Warm congratulations are also extended to Mandy Thompson and Rebekah Price for their nominations in the Training & Education Awards and The Rising Star Awards, respectively.
