Randers, 26 May 2015 Later in the year, KLS Ugglarps AB, a fully owned branch of Danish Crown, is anticipated to acquire a controlling interest in the Dalsjöfors Slakteri slaughterhouse near Borås, Sweden. The two firms have reached a tentative agreement, pending approval from the appropriate competition regulators. KLS Ugglarps has been concentrating on strengthening its business in recent years, and they wish to maintain this trend. They hold the management and growth of the Dalsjöfors company in high regard, and thus view Dalsjöfors Slakteri as a perfect future collaborator, according to Jonas Tunestål, CEO of KLS Ugglarps. KLS Ugglarps operates primarily in the Skåne and Kalmar regions, while Dalsjöfors Slakteri is located in Borås, Västra Götaland, north of Gothenburg. Both companies slaughter pigs and cattle, primarily for the Swedish retail market. This partnership will enhance KLS Ugglarps' coverage in both southern and central Sweden. In 2007, Danish Crown purchased a share in KLS Ugglarps. Since then, the company has evolved into a reliable partner for Swedish farmers, the Swedish retail sector, and the Swedish meat industry. The next step is to ensure that KLS Ugglarps continues to grow and become an even more valuable resource for Danish Crown and its owners, says Kjeld Johannesen, CEO of Danish Crown and Chairman of the Board of Directors of KLS Ugglarps. The proposed acquisition of a controlling interest in Dalsjöfors Slakteri by KLS Ugglarps is now awaiting approval from the relevant competition authorities. If approved, this could boost Danish Crown's annual revenue by approximately DKK 1 billion.
