Creation of New Jobs at Danish Crown

The rise in pig supply to Danish Crown's slaughterhouses can be attributed to a combination of factors including Danish Crown's own growth initiatives, the grant program for new housing units, and the Danish government's agricultural package. Danish Crown's Group CEO, Jais Valeur, expressed his satisfaction with the company's ability to hire many new employees. He credited the Danish government's agricultural sector growth package and the grant program for new pig housing units for reigniting optimism in the industry. He also noted the positive impact of the growth package approved by their Board of Representatives in early May. A few months prior, Danish Crown was concerned about the potential closure of a slaughterhouse within the year. However, this is no longer a probable outcome. Per Laursen, Senior Vice President of Production at Danish Crown Pork, expressed his delight at the reversal of a decade-long decline in pig supplies. The increased supply of pigs for slaughter allows for increased production and the hiring of new employees, rather than having to reduce capacity. Danish Crown operates six pig slaughterhouses in Denmark. In 2016, the company's pork exports amounted to DKK 24 billion.
