Cooke Aquaculture Scotland Ltd., a prominent salmon farming company with operations in the Shetland and Orkney Islands, as well as mainland UK, is delighted to confirm the appointment of Andrew Watson as the new Public Relations & Communications Manager. "We are thrilled to have Andrew join our team at Cooke Aquaculture Scotland," expressed Colin Blair, the company's Managing Director. "His diverse skill set, impressive track record, and strong capacity to forge effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders will be a great asset to our family-run business and the wider Scottish salmon farming sector." Mr. Watson is a seasoned PR professional with a background in the private sector, government, military, and educational institutions. His most recent role was as the Communications Head for Lowland Reserve Forces and Cadets Association, a branch of the Ministry of Defence. A graduate of the University of Edinburgh and a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, Mr. Watson is also a competitive sailor with a commercial skipper's qualification. He is passionate about sailing and dedicates his free time to volunteer work with World Sailing, Ocean Youth Trust, and the Royal Yachting Association Scotland. "I'm excited to be joining Cooke at such a pivotal time for the industry," Mr. Watson stated. "I'm eager to leverage my previous experience and education to enhance engagement and communications for this esteemed, family-run business." Cooke Aquaculture Scotland has a workforce of 350 people. Besides the company's freshwater, sea farming and processing operations, Watson will also oversee communications for Northeast Nutrition Scotland Ltd., following Cooke's recent acquisition of the former Skretting fish feed mill in Invergordon. In line with Cooke's vertical integration approach, Northeast Nutrition Scotland plans to recommence operations at the mill in 2020 to produce fish feed for Cooke Aquaculture Scotland. Both Cooke Aquaculture Scotland and Cooke's feed division and feed suppliers employ a team of experts in fish nutrition, feed production, fish feeding behavior, fish health management, farm management and information technology to manage every aspect of feed supply and delivery. Cooke's dedication to sourcing feed ingredients sustainably, continuous enhancements to feed formulations and innovations in feed delivery enable the company to produce healthy fish for its customers. The company's Scottish salmon products and facilities hold various certifications including RSPCA Assured, Global G.A.P., Code of Good Practice, ISO 14001, BRC, Label Rouge, and Soil Association Organic.
