Tulip Food Company has been prepared to distribute its goods to China for a number of years, and now all the necessary arrangements have been made. Initially, the company will be able to export three types of products. Sausages and salami/pepperoni from the Svenstrup factory, and canned goods from the Vejle factory, can now be sold to the retail industry, online, and to the foodservice sector in China. This is a significant milestone for Danish food exports. China is a highly attractive market, and agreements have already been made with partners who wish to sell Tulip's products. CEO Kasper Lenbroch of Tulip Food Company anticipates that the first shipment will be dispatched in the coming weeks. Tulip's entry into the Chinese market aligns with the company's and the Danish Crown Group's strategy of focusing on domestic markets in Northern Europe, while also planning for expansion in Asia. This includes having their own factory in China and various global initiatives involving canned goods and pepperoni. The company appreciates the efforts of the Danish authorities, led by the Minister for Environment and Food of Denmark Esben Lunde Larsen, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, and the staff at the Danish embassy in Beijing, in securing this agreement. Their consistent work has ensured that Danish food companies continue to lead the way, according to Jais Valeur, Group CEO of Danish Crown. For the Danish Crown Group, gaining access to the Chinese market means they can now get closer to both the retail industry and foodservice wholesalers, even before their own factory near Shanghai is completed in 2019\. CEO Kasper Lenbroch sees potential exports from Denmark of DKK 250 million a year for sausages and canned goods alone. It will take some time to reach this level, but Danish pork already has a strong presence in China, so they are not starting from zero. In Jais Valeur's view, the Danish Crown Group will soon have an almost perfect setup in China. The already robust exports of fresh pork from Denmark will now be supplemented by heat-treated products like sausages and canned goods. This will soon be further enhanced by local production using Danish raw materials, putting them in a very strong position in what has quickly become one of Danish Crown's key markets. Tulip has a traditional Danish hot-dog stand at the Danish embassy in Beijing and an office in China. The company has also been participating in major Chinese food fairs for several years, ensuring that both distributors and customers are familiar with Danish meat products.
