Cermaq participates in the FReSH initiative to enhance global food systems
We are thrilled about the FReSH initiative that incorporates aquaculture into the WBCSD schemes. Aquaculture is undoubtedly going to be crucial in achieving the goal of providing healthy diets for everyone, based on responsibly produced food within the limits of our planet, states Wenche Grønbrekk, the Chief of Sustainability and Risk. FReSH, which stands for Food Reform for Sustainability and Health, is a program that offers a platform for the private sector to facilitate transformation in a non-competitive environment. In collaboration with scientific communities, academia, policy-makers, and civil society, FReSH strives to instigate change throughout the global food system. The program focuses on developing guidelines for healthy and sustainable diets, considering social and environmental factors; adjusting food production, including formulation and offering to help achieve healthy and sustainable diets; reorienting food consumption to boost demand for healthy and sustainable diets; enhancing food sourcing and reducing food loss and waste; and measuring, reporting, and communicating progress. Cermaq will specifically participate in the first and second work streams.
