BRF Bolsters Its Position in Argentina with New Purchases
BRF, via its Argentine subsidiaries Quickfood and Avex, has initiated the acquisition process of prominent Argentine brands, including Vieníssima (sausages), GoodMark (hamburgers), Manty, and Delícia (margarine). Alexandre Borges, BRF's General Manager for Latin America, emphasized the move as a reaffirmation of the company's dedication to Argentina's growth and the expansion of its operations there. These brands, currently under the Molinos Group—a longstanding business conglomerate in Argentina—are integral to the Argentine lifestyle and are highly recognized in the market. “Our goal is to enhance our presence in the local market, secure the brands' leadership positions, and boost our export capabilities,” Borges stated. BRF's strategy in Latin America, with a focus on Argentina, is to fast-track the integration of its local operations into its global production network. This includes continued investment in production capacity and job creation, with the aim of establishing Argentina as a competitive hub for food production on the international stage. BRF's Presence in Argentina With six production facilities in Argentina, BRF employs approximately 2,500 individuals. Beyond Sadia, which has been chosen as the company's global flagship brand, BRF's portfolio in Argentina features well-known brands like Paty and Dánica, leaders in the beef hamburger and margarine categories, respectively. The company recently disclosed a US$ 16 million investment to enhance the production capabilities of its poultry processing facility in Rio Cuarto, Córdoba. Additionally, its Baradero, Buenos Aires facility received a US$ 5.4 million investment to expand its sausage and cold cuts production. BRF's operations in Latin America contribute to nearly 5% of the company's total revenue, with a reported revenue of US$ 580 million in 2014.
