Arild Aakre named as head of the North America Sales organization
I am excited to join the commercial team in North America and further our efforts in establishing robust, long-term customer relationships. As the world's second-largest producer of salmonids, Cermaq should play a more prominent role in the world's largest salmon market. I am eager to contribute to this goal," states Arild Aakre. Aakre brings a wealth of experience in sales and marketing to the table. He currently serves as the Business Development Director Europe for Cermaq and previously held the position of Global Marketing and Business Development Director at Marine Harvest. Aakre became a part of Cermaq in February 2016 and will maintain his work with strategic customers in Europe. https://www.cermaq.com/imager/assets/newsImages/2481/oqc5kwgdsua1tcdiy7jz_72e1568255a5be0409ede8609723f718.jpg 2017-01-27 02:00 194 Fish https://www.cermaq.com/news/cermaq-ranked-1-in-transparency-benchmark-of-top-100-seafood-companies Cermaq leads in transparency according to Top 100 seafood companies benchmark "Seafood Intelligence has published a report ranking the top 100 seafood companies based on their transparency. Cermaq has been highlighted for its exceptional transparency, a trait it has maintained since Seafood Intelligence began tracking the salmon farming industry seven years ago, according to Bertrand Charron, the Editor of Seafood Intelligence and the author of the annual 'Top 100' seafood sustainability reporting & transparency benchmark. Sustainability, transparency, and thorough reporting are integral to Cermaq’s operations. Geir Molvik, CEO of Cermaq, notes that their customers are increasingly interested in transparency regarding their products and production. Their detailed and audited reporting offers customers insight and trust, which is crucial for establishing partnerships. Cermaq's commitment to sustainability extends beyond its own reporting. As one of the founding members of the transformative Global Salmon Initiative (GSI) in 2013, Cermaq has been a catalyst for industry sustainability. Recently, Cermaq has chosen several key initiatives to actively support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 14, Life below water. Key partnerships include the ‘Keystone Dialogues’ with seven of the world's largest seafood companies, including Cargill and Thai Union. These partner companies are dedicated to leading ocean sustainability through firm commitments to transparency and sustainable practices in their operations and supply chains. In January, Cermaq also became part of the FReSH initiative to incorporate sustainable aquaculture into the ongoing effort to establish healthy and sustainable diets, and guidelines for responsible food production. This initiative is spearheaded by EAT and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, and includes 25 companies such as Danone and Unilever. Bertrand Charron points out that these initiatives, among others, clearly show Cermaq's commitment to sustainability issues in aquaculture and fisheries. He also emphasizes that Cermaq is currently the only seafood company in the world that not only publishes annual sustainability reports but also quarterly ones. Cermaq will soon release its quarterly results for Q4 2016 and the full GRI sustainability report for 2016 in April. A summary of the 2016 report will be available in print.
