ABP's subsidiary focused on by-products, Advanced Proteins, is excited to declare the acquisition of John Pointon and Sons, a prominent animal by-products and proteins enterprise. Situated in Staffordshire and sprawling over 80 acres, John Pointon and Sons stands as the UK's most extensive single-location supplier of by-products and ingredients for pet food, boasting a processing capacity of 400,000 metric tons. This enterprise, boasting over 40 years of operation, is family-run and employs a workforce exceeding 200 individuals. For more than half a century, ABP has been engaged in the animal by-products sector, operating this division as a distinct entity from its fresh beef operations. Frank Stephenson, the CEO of ABP Food Group, expressed his enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, "We are delighted to integrate the management and staff of John Pointon and Sons into the ABP Food Group family. Operations will continue as normal, and we are eager to enhance and expand the business further." Martin Pointon, CEO of Pointon and Sons, shared his optimism about the merger, noting, "This marks a period of great excitement, and our entire team at John Pointon & Sons is eagerly anticipating joining the ABP Group. This merger represents an excellent chance to advance what is already a leading facility in the UK's animal by-products sector."
