Demonstrating its unwavering dedication to eco-friendly agricultural practices, ABP Food Group UK recently highlighted its innovative projects at the Livestock Event held at Birmingham's NEC. These projects include the Beef Connect and Blade Farming initiatives, alongside the unveiling of the Farmers of the Future program, aimed at motivating a new generation towards beef farming. In collaboration with Genus ABS, the Beef Connect initiative was presented to attendees, aiming to enhance efficiencies throughout the beef supply chain for the benefit of UK farmers. This partnership focuses on improving cattle genetics to achieve this goal. ABP Food Group's introduction of the Blade Farming scheme at the Livestock Event, following its successful debut in Scotland and Ireland, underscores the company's efforts to assist farmers in producing sustainable, high-quality beef. Targeting teenagers aged 12 to 16 with a passion for agriculture, the Farmers of the Future contest seeks to draw more youth into the beef farming sector. The contest rewards two winners with six calves each to rear under the mentorship of the Blade Farming team, along with comprehensive veterinary support. Beyond the invaluable experience, the winners will also retain the profits from selling the calves. The Livestock Event, organized by the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers, stands as the premier B2B gathering for the Livestock Industry, attracting over 450 exhibitors annually. Richard Phelps, Agriculture Director at ABP Food Group UK, shared his enthusiasm: “Participating in the Livestock Event for our fourth year has been a highlight. It’s a privilege to engage directly with farmers and demonstrate how our sustainable initiatives, like Beef Connect and Blade Farming, are leading the way in enhancing UK farming practices.” “This year’s event is particularly memorable with the introduction of our Farmers of the Future contest to England. This contest represents a golden opportunity for young, aspiring farmers to gain a foothold in the industry and begin their journey in calf rearing. Meeting these enthusiastic young individuals and supporting their initial steps into beef production has been incredibly rewarding.” For further details on Blade Farming, visit http://www.blade-farming.com/.
