ABP, a top agri-business firm in Europe, has been honored with The Green Food & Beverage Award at the Green Awards ceremony held on February 26th in Dublin. This award highlights ABP's dedication, creativity, and efforts in steering Irish food production towards a more sustainable future, positioning the company as a frontrunner in sustainable practices and environmental initiatives. For ABP, sustainability is of utmost importance. The company has joined forces with other agri-food businesses to establish the Plastics Action Alliance, marking a pioneering move in the industry to enhance the sustainability of plastic packaging within their supply chains. Furthermore, ABP stands out as the first European company to secure the complete range of Carbon Trust Standards, the premier global certification for an organization's environmental impact, covering reductions in carbon, water, waste, and supply chain carbon. John Durkan, the Group Sustainability Manager at ABP, expressed pride in receiving the Green Food and Beverage Award at the esteemed Green Awards, noting it as a reflection of ABP's ongoing dedication to sustainable practices. He highlighted the numerous innovative sustainability projects underway within the company, which are instrumental in achieving their 2020 sustainability goals. These goals include lowering water and electricity use, reducing energy consumption and carbon footprint, and achieving zero waste to landfill.
