The City Food Lecture, supported by ABP, occurred last evening, showcasing a prominent presentation by Ash Amirahmadi, the Managing Director of Arla Foods UK, which ranks as the country's fourth-largest food and drink enterprise. The discussion centered on the challenge of nourishing the global population while safeguarding the environment. Additionally, this year marked our involvement with the Future Generation Forum, an exclusive event held in the afternoon aimed at educating students and the youth about the food industry and the opportunities within a contemporary, vibrant food enterprise. During the Future Generation Forum, participants gained perspectives from ABP's team on their journey to discovering their roles within the food sector. The reverse journey from farm to fork was illustrated by various ABP team members including Richard Phelps (Director of Agriculture at ABP UK), Pippa Howard (NPD Controller at ABP UK), Dave Smith (Commercial Manager & Master Butcher), Nick Davies (Trainee Master Butcher), Lucy Crayston (Day Shift Manager for Retail Production in Shrewsbury), Maddi O’Mahony (Manager of Agriculture), and Phoebe Workman (Graduate in Agriculture). Sarah-Jane Fulton, the HR Director at ABP UK, who attended the forum with a group of ten graduates and apprentices from ABP, stated: “ABP has a role for everyone, and we are thrilled to back this year's forum. Our enthusiasm for our work is boundless, and we see the Future Generation Forum as an excellent platform for engaging with the youth, sharing the innovative, scientific, and numerous opportunities the food sector has to offer.”
