1,400 portions of frozen sweet potato product to support City Harvest in feeding the hungry
Lamb Weston, a global leader in the frozen potato products industry, is not only committed to delivering high-quality, delicious, and versatile products to its customers but also to caring for the environment and the global community. This is evident in their recent donation of 1,400 servings of frozen sweet potato products to City Harvest, a charity that redistributes food to those in need. City Harvest collects surplus food from various sectors of the food industry and distributes it to 260 organizations that cater to the city's most vulnerable populations. Among the recipients of Lamb Weston's Sweet Potato CrissCuts were Acton Homeless Concern, which provides 200 meals daily, and the American Church soup kitchen, which serves up to 250 meals a day to the homeless. Sands End Adventure Playground, which offers after-school care for children, also received a portion of the donation. City Harvest's regular deliveries ensure that every child at the playground receives a hot meal, regardless of their family's financial situation. Since its establishment four years ago, City Harvest has 'rescued' 5 million meals and is always seeking partners like Lamb Weston to contribute either on a one-off or regular basis. The food they redistribute not only provides thousands of healthy meals each week but also reduces the annual grocery bills of the organizations they serve, allowing them to allocate more funds to other essential support services. Andrea Deutschmanek, Lamb Weston’s Country Marketing Manager UK & ROI, expressed the company's pride in supporting City Harvest. She emphasized Lamb Weston's commitment to sustainability, supporting the hungry and vulnerable, and providing well-being through their potato products. She also highlighted the company's efforts to reduce the salt and fat content in their products to make them healthier for everyone.
